Today I did a great hike. A sweaty excursion into a landscape that is (almost) too magnificent for words. The trail that runs from the Kenya Wildlife Station starts easy enough, but then you soon hit the slopes.

But once up on the rim it is worth every step, the pounding in your head and the shortness of breath. Far below you have the crater floor, almost like a jungle where people seldom go. And on the outside you have the Rift Valley. If you don”t feel small then, you probably never will. I know I did, but in a good way. It is difficult not to appreciate being even a small part of something that awesome.

That’s the feeling I am bringing to my writing desk tomorrow.
